LET’S BEGIN!

THE RED BALL, the Box Busting Platforming Hero!

THE IQ BALL, the Candies top Catcher!

Gaming is becoming a luxury these days, with game prices rising up and corporate companies buying and shutting down studios, copyrighting to hell and back, and blocking game features from all the others. In times like this we need heroes, heroes that don’t have a price, are timeless, and just fun to play! Thankfully, these two ball-like protagonists star in series that are finding audiences to this day, with all the games being free, simple, and memorable!

However, while these two will likely be a part of our childhoods forever, that doesn’t mean they are immortal, specifically if they fought each other. Will Red Ball 6 be around the corner, or is the next Catch the Candy game going to collect another spherical object this time? It’s time to answer the age old question of…

WHO WOULD WIN?!

WHAT WILL WE USE?!

Both of these two have TONS of bootlegs so researching this accurately was a bit difficult. In order to accurately represent these characters the official material will be the only source taken in today!

For Red Ball, his games include Red Ball, Red Ball 2, Red Ball 3, Red Ball 4, Red Ball 5 (2015), Red Ball 5… again (2022 version), Red Ball Secret Adventure, Red Ball Super Run, and the Red and Blue Ball Trilogy.

For IQ Ball, his games include Catch the Candy (Also known as IQ Ball and Tarzan Ball), Catch the Candy 2, and Catch the Candy Up for Grabs.

BACKROUND

RED BALL

...

  • Full Name: Red Ball

  • Age: Likely an adult

  • Species: Ball

  • Monarch of all the Balls

  • Treasure Hunter along with Blue Ball

  • Likes: His Girlfriend, Adventure, Treasure, Parkour

  • Dislikes: Evil Boxes, Strong Winds, Octopi, Sharp Objects

  • Let’s keep things PG man!

In 2008, the series called Red Ball began. This series stars the titular Red Ball as he uses his momentum and acceleration to solve platforming puzzles.

This Red Ball isn’t just any ordinary platformer however, he actually is the Monarch of all the Balls! This title gives him major respect across all ball-kind, however this gives him the major responsibility of serving as the protector of all the Balls!

So whether it’s Rogue Balls, Evil Boxes, Sea Creatures, or Plant Monsters, Red Ball will keep on rolling.

Yeah, expect that these characters don’t have a whole lot to talk about in terms of story.

IQ BALL

...

  • Real Name: Fluffy

  • Age: Likely a minor

  • Species: Some sort of fuzzy creature

  • Does a bunch of odd jobs for Candy

  • Tail is also a Tongue?

  • Likes: Candy

  • Dislikes: Women getting in the way of Candy

  • Came out a similar time to Cut the Rope so it isn’t a rip-off

In 2010 a game that went by several names was born! Some people called it IQ Ball, others called it Tarzan Ball, but most called it Catch the Candy! This stars a fuzzy creature named Fluffy, he is a Monster that is obsessed with eating circular Candies, he’ll use his elastic tail to grab as much of them as possible.

He will go through Mobs, Desserts, Music Stages, Warzones, Sports, Jungles, Love, Volcanoes, The North Pole, The Moon, Graveyards, Construction Sites, Giant Spider Dens, Science Labs, Heaven, Space, and several other dangerous areas just to eat those sweet delicious Candies.

So unless you want to get between Fluffy’s Candies, stay back, otherwise you’ll wish you never got caught by Fluffy’s tail.

ABILITIES

RED BALL

MOVING AND JUMPING

Red Ball can move and jump! Listen for a ball that usually has no legs, this is actually impressive and shows a high level of strength. With his jumping ability he can bounce like an actual ball! Well that one makes more sense.

THE DOWN KEY

Red Ball requires momentum to function so it makes sense that he would have a way to immediately halt his momentum in case he is in danger.

4TH WALL BREAKING

Red Ball often can communicate with the player, making statements, sharing information and tips with them, and often signifying if the level needs to be restarted.

SWIMMING

Red Ball can swim! He can go up or down with flawless precision, he forgot he had this ability in Red Ball 4.

LIMBS

Sometimes Red Ball has limbs? Idk, does he choose when he wants to hold objects with hands or without hands?

REGENERATION (MID)

While Red Ball can usually survive long falls, if he falls too far and gets flattened he can quickly unflatten himself.

REALITY WARPING

Red Ball can turn celestial bodies back into proper shape.

NON-PHYSICAL INTERACTION

Red Ball can hurt Evil Box Ghosts, pretty simple isn’t it.

R KEY? (DEBATABLE)

Red Ball seems to have knowledge on the R key and how it can reset the level.

SWEARING

And you thought Sonic characters swearing was ridiculous.

HAIR

Yeah maybe he should be bald after all.

IQ BALL

ELASTICITY & STICKING

This is Fluffy’s main ability, Fluffy can stretch out his tail to grab onto something like a grappling hook and can stick onto any surface and pull or go towards a selected object.

LIMITED FIRE MANIPULATION

If Fluffy gets angry he can create fire on his head, which might be hazardous to people jumping on his head… probably.

SHIT

Fluffy is capable of taking a shit… I don’t like that this raises several questions.

4TH WALL BREAKING

Fluffy has encouraged the player if they are struggling on a level showing great empathy, also great awareness but who cares.

WEAPONS/ITEMS

RED BALL

DESTRUCTION BUTTON

With a multicolored button, Red Ball can destroy a specific wall! Useful I know.

BOUNCY PLATFORM

With this platform he can… I don’t know? What do you think?

TRAMPOLINE

And this does the exact same thing, just with better graphics. Expect this with most of Red Ball’s stuff.

WOODEN CRATES

While useless in a combat scenario most likely, this is quite useful for traversal in water, spikes, and putting weights on buttons.

GIANT WOODEN CRATE

What if you need a bigger wooden crate? Well luckily for Red Ball, he has it, you're not as lucky.

GIANT METAL BALL

Would this be like pushing a giant mannequin for us?

MINI METAL BALL

In fairness, Red Ball has used Metal Balls in the past to squish enemies so it isn’t entirely useless.

CANNON & TORCH

OH SHIT, HE’S PACKING HEAT! With a torch, Red Ball can light a cannon to shoot, what else, cannonballs. It is the rare useful item for this scenario.

FISHING ROD

Everyone needs a hobby. But since he’s catching a fish this implies that he needs food and thus has a digestive system, and him having a digestive system implies that he… oh I went on another tangent again.

SWING

Doesn’t this look fun? Ignore how unsafe it looks.

TREASURE

Red and Blue Ball were able to collect these gems in a treasure hunting trip. Red and Blue Ball lost these after crashing their ship. It's not that important to note that only Red Ball can collect Red gems.

DRINKS?

Are they drinking alcohol?

KEY

Very useful for opening locked doors, very useless for everything else.

FLIGHT POWER-UP

When Red Ball gets ahold of this power-up he can soar throughout the air. While it lasts a couple seconds in game, it has lasted for long periods of time in the mini comics. (Mini comics in-game, don’t worry there is no Marvel or DC scaling today.)

ENDLESS RUNNER POWER UPS

Like every endless running mobile game, there are power-ups that function like this.

Magnet: Used to collect any coins nearby within a 3 lane distance.

2x Multiplier: Used to double any score collected.

Shield: The only useful thing here, this is used to take an additional hit.

WALKIE TALKIE

Made to communicate with other heroes when Red Ball is not present.

JETPACK

In case Red Ball can’t fly naturally he has a jetpack, it does have a time limit that isn’t as forgiving but who cares, it’s flight!

GROWTH POWER UP

FINALLY, the last game is actually giving some useful stuff to the Red Ball that he uses for combat! Red Ball can use a power-up to grow up to giant sizes and crush any enemies, practically being invincible.

KNIGHT HELMET

Red Bell used this helmet to pass through waves of fire.

HELIUM

Red Ball can use helium to puff himself up into a balloon-like body and float in the air. I have to assume this is helium.

GOAL FLAG

Ah, the end of a level, maybe he collects the flags? Idk?

IQ BALL

CANDY

This is the goal of the series! Candy is what Fluffy lives for, he probably won’t use it for combat and will probably be distracted by it so it is actually quite useless now that I think about it.

WOODEN CRATE

Just like Red Ball, Fluffy has used Wooden Crates to help him navigate the area and solve puzzles.

CANNON

Fluffy can use Cannon’s, although the Cannon Fluffy used didn’t have any gunpowder so he used his Strength to launch it.

FISHING ROD

Fluffy went fishing for Candy, he got a dirty shoe so he stole someone else’s caught Candy.

SKATEBOARD

This probably helps Fluffy when he chooses not to move.

JETPACK

Fluffy has used this to help him fly through space, of course he needs to use his tail first so maybe not as useful as you might’ve initially thought.

TREASURE KEY

This key unlocks a treasure chest, one filled with a singular piece of Candy. If most pirates went all that way to get a singular Candy, they would probably jump off the plank. Fluffy doesn’t care and eats it.

WRECKING BALL

Since Fluffy is working in a construction site he probably has access to these wrecking balls.

VEHICLES

RED BALL

CAR

I don’t know how a ball is supposed to drive?

TREASURE HUNTING SHIP

Red and Blue Ball used this ship to hunt for treasure, they accidentally crashed it and lost their treasure. Don’t worry they got their treasure back, and then the ship got destroyed shortly afterwards by that damned octopus.

MINECART

Look how happy he is to ride a minecart, even when his girlfriend is kidnapped. Anyway, Red Ball uses this to get past hazardous materials.

SPIKED MINECART

This minecart has spikes on it, something that could probably be used for combat! Of course it is risky since the spiked edge could kill Red Ball but hey, at least this thing could probably kill you so that's all that matters.

MAGNET THINGY

I have no idea what this should be called, but it does what you probably imagine.

SPRINGED VEHICLE

It’s some form of transport with a spring on top.

HELICOPTER

THEY FLY NOW?

PLANE

THEY FLY NOW!

I’M RUNNING OUT OF NAMES FOR THESE

Uh, watch “Banana slips on Man.” Peak Cinema.

BOAT

He conquered the land, then the sky, and now he has conquered the sea. UNDER THE SE-

IQ BALL

HOT AIR BALLOON

Fluffy used this to make his way to the Candy.

GOLF CART

These creatures are able to drive Golf Carts, so it’s likely Fluffy has driven one before as well.

BOAT

Fluffy seemed to be using this boat to go fishing, fishing for Candy of course!

THE SKELD?

Why is Fluffy aboard The Skeld? You know, that is kinda sus… I’ll shut up, sorry. But yes, Fluffy has a Rocket Ship.

SHOPPING CART

Ok, how old is he?

ROCKET SHIP

I’m not saying that nickel shit again, it’s a one off and it immediately got tired after being said for the 1 trillionth time.

SUPPORT

BALL MONARCHY (DEBATABLE)

Being the king he might have an army to use, he’s never used it but it is possible he has this. The Monarchy is mostly featless aside from a few Super Balls.

IQ BALL

Uhhhhhh…

Hmm…

HIS ROCK BAND I GUESS?

I don’t know if they can do anything but cheer… emotional support is good too, I suppose.

FORMS

MONARCH CROWN

Not really a form but this does symbolize that this Red Ball is the monarch of all balls.

DOODLE JUMP BALL

He did this randomly with no build up in a level and never turned into this again? Well true to his name he has an excellent jumping ability and is constantly bouncy, probably due to the extra legs I guess?

SUPER RUNNER

What happened to Red Ball after Red Ball 4? He became a superhero as one does. Now he doesn’t get any powers but he does get extra style points with his cape.

WINTER COSTUME

Even in fights that could result in potential death you have to stay festive right?

FIREFIGHTER COSTUME

Firefighters do save people so they can be considered superheroes right? Unfortunately he doesn’t have an axe, but he has a fashionable hat so that makes up for it.

SHERRIF COSTUME

Yee-haw.

KNIGHT COSTUME

Actually why doesn’t Red Ball just always wear this? It should provide better protection and it doesn't hinder his movement or momentum.

ROCK COSTUME

What can I say, this rocks.

IDK

Listen, this isn’t too relevant in any debates besides fashion and cosmetics so don’t blame me when I can’t recognize what the hell this thing is.

PASTA COSTUME

It’s a good thing that DIC Mario was in the last blog and not here, otherwise I’d be concerned for Red Ball’s safety.

EARTH COSTUME

Red Ball is Planet Level before we even get to Feats, awesome sauce.

PANDA COSTUME

Does he know Kung Fu?

WATERMELON COSTUME

Yummers.

BOMB COSTUME

Yes Mater! You are the Bomb!

PIG COSTUME

Pigs are really cute, my Dad’s friend has a farm and I got to feed them tons of mini apples. It was so cute watching them run around to eat them. I also sprayed them with a hose and they were so happy!

TENNIS BALL

I think this is a Tennis Ball? I don’t watch sports, I vs debate, this means I’m cool right?

COCONUT COSTUME

Apparently Coconuts kill more people than Sharks, so Red Ball is technically cosplaying as a mass murderer.

IQ BALL

ROBIN HOOD HAT

Quite the nice hat, but Fluffy wouldn’t give to the poor if Candy was the currency.

CONSTRUCTION HAT

Is it really a form? No. Is it stylish and safe to wear outside when working with bricks and concrete to catch Candies? Yes.

GARDEN HAT

I think it’s a gardening hat, what do YOU the readers think?

MENTALITY

RED BALL

IQ: Above Average - Red Ball is a skilled puzzle solver, often using his momentum and using the environment to pass through obstacles. Even ignoring this, Red Ball is considered smart enough to be a part of a monarchy and is smart enough to work with high tech equipment.

BIQ: At least Average likely higher - Red Ball is smart enough to recognize patterns with boss fights and has used their own attacks against them, he is rather basic in his attacks though.

SKILL/TRAINING: Red Ball doesn’t have any statements of combat training but he is a professional superhero which does mean that he should know basic self-defense. He also is a skilled Treasure Hunter.

EXP: Red Ball has no stated age but he does have 11 games to work with.

COMBAT/STANDARD TECHNIQUES: Red Ball is rather basic, he usually waits for the enemy to tire themselves out or drop their defenses and land a hit by jumping at them. In his Superhero form he even knows how to throw hands!

IQ BALL

IQ: Above Average - Obviously being called IQ Ball means he is smarter than an average person and this is proven by Fluffy’s creative problem solving skills to get Candies. He also is smart enough to pilot a ship and navigate throughout dangerous areas.

BIQ: Average - Fluffy hasn’t been in too many fights but the ones he has been in require him to use his surroundings in basic ways to win.

SKILL/TRAINING: While Fluffy may not seem like he is trained in anything, he has a set of skills that would require some amount of training like instrumental talent, piloting spaceships, and entering warzones.

EXP: This is FLuffy’s main gap in his mentality as he isn’t often put in combat scenarios. That doesn’t mean he is entirely inexperienced as he has gotten in scuffles in wars and Government Agents and won both encounters.

COMBAT/STANDARD TACTICS: Fluffy uses his tail for everything and the times we’ve seen Fluffy in combat his tail is used to knock the enemies away. Fluffy also has used his tail to grab items and traverse throughout areas at efficient speeds.

RESISTANCES

RED BALL

Limited Acid Resistance: Red Ball can survive in a pool of acid for a couple seconds.

Extreme Cold Resistance: Can survive in space without any aid.

Heat Resistance: Can get hit by a flamethrower and not die or be put in a fatal state.

Self Sustenance Type 1: Doesn’t need to breathe as he can casually exist in water and space for long periods of time.

IQ BALL

Self Sustenance Type 1: Doesn’t need to breathe as he can casually exist in water and space for long periods of time.

Extreme Cold Resistance: Can survive in space without any aid.

SCALING

RED BALL

EVIL BOXES

Easily the most iconic enemies Red Ball has faced, all of the Evil Boxes have been defeated by Red Ball and Red Ball can survive hits from them that can shake the background so scaling is pretty easy.

Green Hills Boss

Deep Forest Boss

Box Factory Boss

Moon Boss

Cave Boss

THAT DAMMED OCTAPUS

Seriously, Red Ball always calls him a Damned Octopus, I think that’s his name. Anyways, Red and Blue Ball killed him very easily and survived its assault on him so scaling should be acceptable.

IQ BALL

RED BALL?

In 2008, the series called Red… wait didn’t we just talk about him? See Before Verdict

WEAKNESSES

RED BALL

While Red Ball is a skilled adventurer his fighting style is fairly simple and predictable and he rarely uses any of his arsenal for combat. Also while he is quite tough, sharp objects like spikes have dealt significant damage to him in the past.

IQ BALL

Fluffy isn’t perfect, he often ignores everything going on to get Candies so he is usually distracted and could be manipulated with his Candies. Fluffy also isn’t a traditional fighter, he doesn’t move very often, and heavily relies on nothing but his tail.

BEFORE WE END THINGS!

RED BALL

IS RED BALL IMMORTAL?

So in the first couple of Red Ball games and in the Red and Blue Ball series, Red Ball has knowledge on the fact that the player can reset the level to try again so this brings up a question, are the retries canon? Likely yes, but then this brings up the question if Red Ball can retry on his own or if he is virtually immortal. The answer is, ehhhhh…

So while Red Ball does have knowledge on the R key it’s never shown if he can activate it on his own will or not. It’s also worth noting that in the later games the R key is gone if the retry button is in the menu, something that Red Ball hasn’t shown knowledge of. It’s debatable if Red Ball can retry on his own so he will not be receiving this button, if he wins it’ll be just another nail in the coffin, if he loses then this will just be ignored.

HIGHER SCALE FEATS

So in Red Ball 4, there are a bunch of feats that have exceeded what you probably expect this ball to be at, so lets go through them all and see if they hold up since all of them are a little shaky.

1: Evil Boxes traveling to the Moon - Now the feat itself is pretty clear and valid, the scaling isn’t. The feat truthfully isn’t performed by the Evil Boxes, but instead a rocket (or rocket ship) that delivered them to the Moon. No one has reacted to this rocket, yes while Red Ball has dodged a missile that could be interpreted as a rocket there is a problem, they aren’t the same and one wasn’t able to break the sound barrier while the other is almost as fast as return stroke lightning. So it would be considered a travel speed feat that is unlikely that Red Ball could replicate, there is another way to get Red Ball to high speeds but it has its own issues.

2: Red Ball dodging lasers -  Now there are tons of lasers in Red Ball games but he hasn’t dodged them until BFTM where there are Laser Boxes that shoot lasers that Red Ball has to avoid, but there are problems of giving him lightspeed scaling.

#1 - Since Red Ball is in space, the space station he is on has lower gravity then Earth so evading lasers isn’t entirely on him.

#2 - Red Ball doesn’t dodge these lasers by speed, rather timing. Red Ball is unable to dodge the lasers as soon as they move and only gets out of the way because he times it right and jumps right before they activate.

#3 - The lasers can go in a zigzag which violates lightspeed laser rules.

Red Ball unfortunately will not be getting Relativistic scaling as both feats require context and the context given shows Red Ball needing aid to perform the feat.

3: Transforming the Moon - The Moon was turned into a box by the Evil Boxes and turned back to normal by Red Ball. This feat is pretty concrete but surprisingly isn’t TOO farfetched as there are feats with similar scale such as the next two.

4: Transforming the Earth - Pretty much the same as the last one, while the timeframe is unknown, it does solidify the last feat to being fairly consistent.

5: Moon Boss Fight - All the bosses in Red Ball 4 have the feat of shaking their background, in “Battle for The Moon” the Boss shakes the background which contains the Moon. This makes the other two feats consistent and even if you don’t buy that the feat of shaking the Moon gets to 18 Gigatons of TNT which is consistent with That Damned Octopus which threatened to blow up an island. Now there are stars in the background and they do seem to shake so is Large Star Level Red Ball legit? No, the next point contradicts this.

6: Shaking the Sun - In the first boss in Green Hills (Sonic connection?) shakes the area which includes the Sun so is he actually shaking the Sun? Probably not. While the Sun was shook in earlier versions, the shaking was violent enough to shake the entire screen off balance and once it was patched everything shook EXCEPT for the Sun so sadly Red Ball shouldn’t be on that level.

IQ BALL

SAME VERSE FIGHT?

A question you might ask is that shouldn’t the result between Fluffy and Red Ball be set in stone since Fluffy already beat Red Ball in bowling, proving Fluffy is superior. Not exactly.

First of all, just because you beat someone at bowling doesn’t automatically prove you are a better fighter or stronger, it might show better dexterity skills or just better control over the ball, but it doesn’t affect your physical and combat ability TOO much. Second of all, we also don’t see the context of how Red Ball was losing to the point he started crying.

So while it would be a funny conclusion to make, Red Ball and Fluffy won’t up or downscale each other. However, while we can’t give any physical feats here, we can assume that they would have a basic idea of what the other could do. Red Ball and Fluffy will have a basic understanding of the other for this battle unlike the other two who are going in blind.

HEIGHT DIFFERENCE

Something you might’ve noticed is how inconsistent Fluffy’s height is. One moment he is over 8 feet tall by comparing him to the Leaning Tower of Pisa, later he is seen being at miniscule size when compared to everyday vehicles such as Shopping Carts and Laundry Machines.

While it doesn't affect the verdict by a MAJOR difference, we’ll make sure Fluffy will stand eye to eye with Red Ball. This makes the most sense, especially since Fluffy isn’t that short compared to Red Ball when they went bowling together.

GET READY!

Alright the combatants are set, and I can’t run through all the possibilities since I’m not a god but I can show you a fight script and a reasoning for the winner if you want. Who’ll Win? Who’ll go home the victor? Who’ll suffer humiliation or death? Why is the hardest part of being a Nintendo fan supporting the company after all the crummy things they have done? … ok ignore that last one. Let’s see…

Who

Would

WIN!

FIGHT SCRIPT

Welp,

Enjoy!

VERDICT

If you haven’t read the fight script, place your final bets!

Let’s go through every category to determine our winner…

ABILITIES

As you can tell, both these guys aren’t the most versatile when it comes to abilities, they aren’t grand magic users or reality warpers, they mostly follow their gimmick and that’s it.

Red Ball for the most part has very basic abilities, most of which we have as humans. In fairness Fluffy does lack the ability to jump, stop their momentum, and swim, but all of these abilities aren’t the most valuable skills in a fight like this. Red Ball’s only real useful ability here is his Regeneration which is useful for obvious reasons. Before you ask, we haven’t seen Red Ball reality warp anything else but a celestial body, so pretty useless in a fight.

Fluffy has a different problem to Red Ball, he lacks the basic abilities of jumping, stopping their momentum, and swimming. He also has very few things he can do. But as you know, quality > quantity. Fluffy can make their head go on fire which could be useful, but unknown if Fluffy could use it in combat, it could still be useful though. What can’t be debated on its usefulness is Fluffy’s main ability, his tail’s elasticity! With this Fluffy gets an incredible range advantage, being capable of traversing throughout areas Red Ball can’t naturally while fighting at a safe distance. As useful as Red Ball’s regeneration is, it has been overtaxed in the past and he has a severe weakness to sharp objects, considering Fluffy can steal items it is possible Fluffy could grab one of Red Ball’s sharp items and take Red Ball out while always being at a good distance away.

While Red Ball does have useful abilities, Fluffy’s one main ability trumps all of Red Ball’s, even his regeneration. IQ BALL takes ABILITIES!

WEAPONS/ITEMS

While both do have more tools to work with than abilities, most of their arsenal isn’t very useful in a combat scenario. Still they can make good use of what items they do have to help themselves out. They do share Wooden Crates, Cannons, Fishing Rods, Jetpacks, and Keys (and bowling equipment but it should be obvious they both have it which is why I didn’t mention it before).

When taking all of those out of the equation it becomes clear that Fluffy is extremely limited in this field. He only has 3 weapons that Red Ball doesn’t have, and all of them aren’t too useful. Candy would just serve as a distraction for himself, Fluffy’s skateboard is nice but pales in comparison to Red Ball’s vehicles, and the Wrecking Ball is something that Red Ball has experienced before and survived very causally.

Red Ball has more materials to push around, trampolines to get some air mobility, power-ups to fly for long periods of time and block damage with shields, and grow Giant! Even his jetpack is better as it can go long distances while Fluffy’s only exists to help him traverse through space, needing his tail to activate it.

While Fluffy could steal Red Ball’s power ups, he would have to go out of his way to steal them since his arsenal is lacking. That’s not mentioning the fact that since Red Ball has a fairly big arsenal he could just overwhelm Fluffy with it since Fluffy can only grab one object at a time. WEAPONS/ITEMS go to RED BALL!

VEHICLES

Going to be honest, this one is a tie as both of their vehicles are very much useless. While they could hurt each other, those are very hard conditions to meet compared to the infinitely easier method of attack by their basic gimmicks of jumping and stretching respectively.

Even then it’s very difficult to say who can outperform the other in vehicles since both have off screen syndrome and when it isn’t offscreen it is extremely useless and clunky to use. VEHICLES is a DRAW but it is 100% a non-factor.

SUPPORT & FORMS

Putting these two together because it is a nothing sandwich. They both don’t have any real methods of support that wouldn’t require prep, and even then both sides are just featless aside from the titular Red Ball and Fluffy.

You could make the argument that Red Ball could take forms since his Doodle Jump Ball form does make him more bouncy which unlike everything else it does give an additional ability rather than a cosmetic change. But the Doodle Jump Ball is pretty much useless, if anything it would hinder Red Ball since he can’t really fight in this form, it’s just a weird but funny thing he can do.

Both of these two do have a lot going on but at the same time are fairly simple characters with not a whole lot to talk about. SUPPORT & FORMS is another DRAW!

MENTALITY

Get ready for ANOTHER draw as both combatants have significant advantages over each other in this category.

Red Ball is obviously way more experienced than Fluffy, the amount of games both have should tell you that. Even ignoring that, half of Red Ball’s games revolve around Red Ball defeating several enemies while Fluffy has only engaged in one true fight and evaded 2 brief conflicts. Red Ball should also be the better strategist since he exploits his enemies weaknesses, unlike Fluffy who just goes in swinging.

Fluffy’s advantages are combat/standard tactics and skill. When it comes to skill, Red Ball is able to use his momentum to solve puzzles, but Fluffy is able to do the same with his tail. Fluffy also has other intelligence feats that puts him ahead such as navigating throughout dangerous areas and is able to pilot complicated ships like the Skeld. He is also able to play instruments and sports well enough to grow a fanbase. Then there is the fact that while Fluffy is admittedly not a traditional fighter, his fighting style completely counters Red Balls! Red Ball’s style is waiting for the enemy to expose themselves and jump on them with maximum strength, Fluffy’s is keeping the enemy at a distance by pushing them and using his stick ability to traverse the area to hit the opponent in areas they won’t expect.

Finally, the both tie when it comes to intelligence as neither of them have any real impressive feats aside from using their abilities and gimmicks to solve puzzles. Not to mention that both know each other so they share that advantage. RED BALL owns the BIQ and EXP category, the SKILL/TRAINING and COMBAT/STANDARD TACTICS categories belong to IQ BALL, and they both DRAW and IQ.

SPEED

Now let’s get back into the important categories with arguably the most important categories in most vs debates, the stat trinity! Starting with speed, it isn’t clear who takes the category, not because there aren’t clear advantages or number differences, and not because they are tied, but because they both take different speed categories.

When it comes to who can hit faster with higher Combat Speeds, Fluffy easily takes this by a massive mile! His feat of his tail stretching to the Moon gets to 96% the speed of light, so close to the speed of light that Fluffy might as well have stretched at lightspeeds. This exceeds Red Ball’s speed by so much that even if you scale Red Ball to the Boxes rocket it would still be almost 3 times slower.

While Fluffy stomps with Combat Speeds, Reaction Speeds are a different story. Fluffy is practically featless when it comes to Reaction Speed, Red Ball is able to dodge flamethrowers and missiles, so pretty easy to say that Red Ball reacts to far faster speeds.

Finally, what about Travel Speeds? It’s complicated. Fluffy doesn’t really move that much and at most can be compared to skateboarding speeds thanks to his skateboard, compared to Red Ball who can run fast enough to create dustclouds which would require Subsonic speeds! However, when Fluffy stretches he can pull himself at the same speeds he can stretch, meaning he could travel at near lightspeeds if he stretches first. Because of how situational it is for both to take Travel Speed it will be a Tie.

So who takes speed? Depends on what speed you mean. RED BALL takes REACTION SPEED, COMBAT SPEED goes to IQ BALL, and TRAVEL SPEED is SITUATIONAL.

STRENGTH & DURABILITY

Alright, this is the deciding factor, speeds are difficult to determine what types are more important, vehicles and support and forms are irrelevant and nonexistent, and Red Ball has the arsenal needed to win while Fluffy has the ability needed to win. So who is stronger to guarantee the win?

The best way we can gauge who is stronger is by looking at both their best feats, which both involve celestial bodies funnily enough. Whose feat is better, Red Ball’s reshaping of the Earth and the Moon or Fluffy spinning the Moon?

It’s very hard to determine an accurate calculation of Red Ball reshaping the Earth, but considering he affected the Earth it is possible to make a high end for his power. Destroying the Earth is roughly Planet level and the highest end of Planet level is just under 3.8 Yottatons of TNT. This is impressive but surprisingly it is weaker than Fluffy spinning the Moon which is roughly 20 Ronnatons of TNT, more than 5000 times stronger! While it may not seem like it, affecting the Moon is way less impressive than moving it at extreme speeds, unless the Moon was completely destroyed but it wasn’t. You could even argue that Red Ball’s Reality Warping shouldn’t scale to his physicality which would make his most impressive feat worth 18 Gigatons of TNT, quintillions times weaker.

Now you can call shenanigans since obviously the Moon spinning isn’t consistent with the other games, thus an outlier. However, if you go with that logic you would have to eliminate all of Red Ball’s feats from Red Ball 4 since they are outlandish compared to his other games, this would still make Red Ball weaker since his best feats is being able to oneshot featless enemies, while Fluffy can tank meteors which is far more impressive.

No matter how you look at it, IQ BALL earns the STRENGTH & DURABILITY category!

This blog came out a whole lot faster than I thought, probably because I didn’t know what I was getting into and a couple of changes had to happen.

But regardless the result should be simple, just like the characters. Red Ball was overall the better fighter, way more experienced, and had way more games and items to work with, but Fluffy had everything he needed to take home the win. He was way stronger even removing both of their highest ends and his stretching speeds would quickly overwhelm Red Ball. Even without stats, Fluffy could take any item Red Ball pulls out and his range would guarantee that Red Ball would never be able to close the distance between them and would always have to be on defense. With stats in mind, Red Ball hitting Fluffy is near impossible sadly. Red Ball not only has to deal with his items being used against him, but he has to find a way to get close to Fluffy while getting away from his tail which is next to impossible due to its high speeds and range. When you consider that Fluffy has the strength to instantly knock out Red Ball and it’s sadly not looking too good for Red Ball. Red Ball’s regeneration advantage is nice but it has its limits which will easily be met by Fluffy.

Red Ball had the skills and weapons needed to win, but he missed the little de-TAILS needed to solidify his chances. Oh well, at least Fluffy is having a BALL.

Who Would Win? Fluffy the IQ Ball!

Here’s the fight script if you haven’t read it yet. Enjoy!

NEXT TIME!

Okay so I found out that a Yellow Spherical Man read out future plans for WWW Blogs! Unfortunately, a change of plans is happening. This isn’t the remaster of my old private script, one of the characters in that match is getting a big new piece of media soon so I think it wouldn’t be fair to do the blog until that piece of media is out. As for the Battle Royale, this was originally supposed to be it but it was cancelled since two of the characters I felt shouldn’t be analyzed in this context upon reflection. Also the debate would’ve come down to this match anyways so why not just do this since it’s pretty thematic. I do have ideas for more Battle Royales but they aren’t close to ready at the moment (one of them is getting researched now but it won’t be out for a bit). Any other details is a story for another day, as for the next match you’ll see…
