LET’S BEGIN!

SHERE KHAN, Lord of the Jungle!

SCAR, Usurper of the Throne!

Life has a natural order, and there are those in life that dedicate themselves to maintaining the order to achieve peace and balance. However, there are also those who are the opposite, dedicating their lives to disrupting the order to achieve total control and power, at the cost of peace and balance. And for some reason, two of Disney’s best examples are large felines with a refined voice? Through installing fear into others and killing father figures, both Shere Khan and Scar successfully disrupted order just to become ruler of their territories!

But you can't have 2 rulers, only one can rule! Will Shere Khan’s might be enough, or is Scar prepared for victory? In this blog, it’s time to answer…

WHO WOULD WIN?!

WHAT WILL WE USE?!

Both Shere Khan and Scar have lots of media, with conflicting canons as there are dozens of backstories for the characters in both franchises. While this makes it tricky to Composite both characters, at the same time limiting them to their original movies is pretty unfair. In order to create an accurate profile on both characters, they will be getting a Soft Composite, basically anything that doesn’t contradict the original films TOO much.

For Shere Khan, he will be receiving: The Jungle Book movies 1-2, The Live Action Remake, The Games, Comics, and the Jungle Cubs show.

For Scar, he will be receiving: The Lion King movies 1-3, The Live Action Remakes, The Games, Comics, The Hakuna Matata Magazines Stories, The Twisted Tale, Picture Books, and The Lion Guard.

You might’ve seen two pieces of media excluded, Talespin and the Timon & Pumbaa Cartoon, but they were left out for good reason. They are just too different from the main source material.

Talespin: So the biggest problem here is to look at Shere Khan!

Does this look canon to you? Shere Khan is a shady business man who deals with pirates and pilots, not the man hating tiger in The Jungle Book. Also humans just don't exist in the Talespin universe, we never see any. The universe is like Zootopia where the world is inhabited by anthropomorphic animals that take the positions of humans in everyday life, a direct violation of The Jungle Book where only Mowgli uses human equipment. For further proof, Talespin actually shares a universe with Ducktales as it had a crossover episode where a grown up Kit Cloudkicker goes on an adventure with Della and Dewey.

So unless you want to bring in Mickey Mouse scaling, Talespin won’t be included.

The Timon & Pumbaa Cartoon:  This one isn’t included for a couple of very simple reasons…

First of all this!

While this would be funny to give him, there is another big problem besides Scar getting ridiculously stronger, this is TOO cartoony. The Lion King can be cartoony, but it is generally a bit more grounded. This gif isn’t the only example, characters break the 4th wall, create larger than life impacts, become superheroes, and interact with humans which are purposefully left out of the main universe (a no go for the universe). Also this show contradicts characters origins to a point that you wonder if these people have seen the original. While this cartoon does feature The Lion King characters, it is too different from the source material, they more use The Lion King setting as a joke. If you ask most fans of The Lion King, this is one of the most non-canon things to come out of the franchise.

Talespin and The Timon & Pumbaa Cartoon are very charming and funny shows with good characters, but they are so different from the source material that it would be disingenuous to give them these series when they contradict so many core aspects of the main continuity.

However, there is a bigger topic that needs to be covered, especially when it comes to Disney characters…

DISNEY CROSSOVERS!?

So something that has been discussed about with Disney in versus is crossover scaling, whether it’s valid or not. So let’s talk about it! Is it true that they share a Universe? Yep!

The first bit of evidence is Disney Descendants, a series about the children of the Disney villains after the main movies. The main piece of evidence is when during an interview with Disney executives and actors, Dove Cameron confirmed the franchise to be canon to all the movies present.

The second piece of evidence is the Disney book series "Villains." I could explain it, but the G1^2 Blog team explained it much better than I ever could, so read it!

So now that we know that Disney shares a Universe, two questions will be answered.

1: Do Shere Khan and Scar scale to each other?

Nope!

Not because one has shown outright dominance by beating the other or some sort of scaling chain, but because they don’t really interact with each other. They are in Descendants, but they don’t physically interact with anyone. They should exist in the world of “Villains”, but they don’t show up. So no crossover scaling, probably for the best.

2: What about the Crossover Games?

Considering that the former two crossovers establish that Disney shares a universe, the other crossovers should be game. The most notable crossovers Disney has been in are Kingdom Hearts and the Disney Mobile games (and Speedstorm I guess), so let's go through all of them and see which ones should and will be covered.

Valids

Kingdom Hearts: So we immediately have a problem as only Scar was in Kingdom Hearts, there is technically no problems with using this but NO KINGDOM HEARTS SCALING, I don’t think Shere Khan can fight a Complex Multiversal character sadly. Considering everyone else doesn’t use Kingdom Hearts scaling in these Disney debates, I think it’s fair if it doesn’t happen here as well.

Disney Heroes Battle Mode: So technically it isn’t canon since it’s a simulation, however since it’s a simulation it does mean that what they do here COULD be considered something that they could do.

Disney Sorcerers Arena: The plot of this game is that several Disney and Pixar characters are being summoned by Sorcerers to defeat evil versions of themselves.

Lorcana: Oh yeah, board games count too lol. Lorcana are alternate versions of the characters but they aren’t too different and each card is an alternate universe from the other, it isn’t too different from the canon version so it’s allowed.

Invalids

Mirrorverse: While mirrorverse does make the characters look cool, it unfortunately is too different from the source material to consider viable. Mirrorverse characters are explicitly shown to be alternate versions of the characters, not the canon ones. While this isn’t a big deal, considering how different they are from the canon versions, it gets difficult to give.

Speedstorm: This one isn’t being dropped for any canon issues, it’s just not included because neither character here is involved.

That about does it for cross scaling, there are other crossovers with Disney but neither Jungle Book or Lion King are involved so they won’t have to be worried about today. However, there is one other thing to talk about.

ARMY FIGHT?

So something I see with some of Scar’s other matchups is a potential army fight dynamic, however for this match specifically it won’t happen for 3 reasons.

1: Shere Khan doesn’t have an “army.” While he has gotten help in the past, most notably in Jungle Cubs, it isn’t very reliable. The only reason people help him in some instances is because they are scared of him, they even betray him when they are either no longer in risk or can’t stand him any longer. Also, he would have no way to get help in a random encounter type scenario.

2: Scar’s army kinda sucks: In the Lion Guard, Scar creates alliances with a bunch of animals but they quickly fall apart and fail their plans because their teamwork and cooperation sucks. They are honestly more likely to abandon the battle out of spite and there isn’t much that Scar could offer in this scenario. Also, the moment Shere Khan kills one of them they are leaving since most of Scar’s followers are cowards.

3: Ruins the match: Going to be honest, there’s not a lot that could be done in an army battle since Shere Khan doesn’t have any real followers. As cool as it could be for Shere Khan to fight Scar’s army solo, it doesn’t work dynamically very well. Also Scar has never led an army in a fight so the whole fight would just be too chaotic.

This doesn’t mean that support isn’t allowed entirely, the only support that’ll be given is ones that either Shere Khan or Scar would have on standby more often than not. Support is generally given if they either have easy access or are owned/created.

That should be it, sorry for the long introduction but there were a couple of things that needed to be mentioned. Now let’s get into the meat and potatoes.

BACKGROUND

SHERE KHAN

Why should you run? Could it be possible that you don’t know who I am?

  • Full Name: Shere Khan, can’t say he isn’t honest

  • Age: At least 13 (Considering Mowgli is 10 and Shere Khan was an adult when Mowgli was a newborn)

  • Species: Bengal Tiger

  • Is 5 feet tall!

  • HE’S ENGLISH!

  • Likes: The Fear in others, Respect, Meat, His Grandma

  • Dislikes: Man, Fire, Guns

  • Friends with Scar (Awkward)

The Jungle is the home to many animals: Bears, Panthers, Monkeys, Wolves, Snakes, Elephants, Rhinos, Vultures, and many more. The animals have to follow the Law of the Jungle, a set of rules to prevent anarchy such as staying in designated territory, to fight alone fairly, to not hunt for pleasure, to not take pride in killing the weaker, and most importantly to not hunt the most dangerous creature in the Jungle, Man! Unfortunately, whenever rules are placed they will be broken, the one who broke these rules is the Bengal Tiger named Shere Khan.

As a cub Shere Khan strived for respect, he used to be friends with the most important residents of the Jungle: Baloo, Bagheera, King Louie, Hathi, and Kaa. They used to be all pals and go on adventures with each other, but something changed one day. Shere Khan always had an obsession for gaining respect and tried being a bully and super mean but he always had his friends and family behind him to ground him, until one day they were gone. His friend group fell out with each other one day and he soon was the only member of his family left standing. He was now alone, or was he?

Now while it isn’t confirmed that he was visited by these ladies, it is confirmed that all Disney villains have been visited by them so he logically should have been visited by… The Odd Sisters. Their intentions are simple, they want to root out the evil intent out of people and destroy the illusion of innocence. It’s very likely that they enhanced Shere Khan’s emotions and whispered thoughts into his ear, thoughts of power and how he was deserving of it.

For now on, the Jungle wouldn’t just know the name Shere Khan but fear it! Shere Khan broke the Law of the Jungle as he invaded territory, took pleasure in killing, and ruled the Jungle. No one could stop him as the Jungle feared him and those who didn’t live long enough to prove their claims. The most important rule was one yet to be broken, the rule to not hunt Man, Shere Khan went on to fight Mowgli’s father and actually won, but he also found his greatest fear, the Red Flower aka Fire! While he heard of it in legend he finally experienced what it felt like and a single touch from it was enough to hurt him, in the Live Action adaptation it even scared and blinded one of his eyes. Shere Khan’s hatred for Man grew and he vowed to prevent the Red Flower from coming at all costs.

Shere Khan’s influence stretched out beyond the Jungle, Man became afraid to even approach the Jungle without a gun ready in hand. His reputation was so strong that he became one of the Villains Entitled to Respect, a list that includes literal gods and monsters and yet Shere Khan could stand with them as one of the most sinister beings to exist. However, the Jungle was so big that he could not attend to everything in there and thus a Man-Cub managed to sneak by and live in the Jungle, that Man-Cub was Mowgli.

Mowgli was adopted by a pack of wolves but 10 years later Shere Khan got word of Mowgli’s existence and vowed to kill the boy before he could learn to summon the Red Flower. Bagheera and Baloo tried to protect Mowgli but Shere Khan would eventually face off with the boy. How this fight ended varies but it had a common theme, Mowgli used the Red Flower to take down the Tiger. In some versions Shere Khan was consumed by it, in others he was scared off and swore revenge to only be trapped under a statue.

Regardless, he would eventually make his way to the Isle of the Lost, a jail containing the worst of the worst, and was ultimately imprisoned. He now spends his days trapped with and by the very thing he hates the most, Man.

SCAR

Yes, our teeth and ambitions are bared. BE PREPARED!

  • Real Name: Taka

  • Age: At least 6 - 9 (Scar was a fully matured adult [4-5] and was alive when Simba was an adult [2-3])

  • Species: African Lion

  • Former Leader of The Lion Guard

  • Ignore the Mufasa movie, bro is gay as hell!

  • Likes: Being King, Fear in others, Power

  • Dislikes: Mufasa, Mufasa, Mufasa, did I say Mufasa?

  • Friends with Shere Khan (Awkward)

The Pride Lands, home to all of the African animals: Rhinos, Elephants, Cheetahs, Badgers, Birds, Hippos, Meerkats, Warthogs, Monkeys, and more. They all follow the Circle of Life, the natural cycle of life and death that connects everyone together, everyone being equally important. The species tasked to rule over the rest and keep balance in the Circle of Life for the Pride Lands are Lions! Generations of Kings have kept balance, but there was one who didn’t!

Meet Taka, the younger brother of Mufasa! He used to be a cheerful Lion cub who loved his brother dearly. However, jealousy built up over time as Mufasa gained power and respect, along with being older he would be destined as king. While unconfirmed, like with Shere Khan, it is likely that The Odd Sisters stepped in and "influenced" Taka. Mufasa didn’t deserve the throne, he wasn’t as smart and cunning as Taka was, and Mufasa didn’t even have the Royal blood in the Live Action continuity. Jealousy overflowed through Taka’s blood as he made a plan to take out Mufasa. Depending on the version he teamed up with the Lion murdering Kiros, caused the angry Buffalo Boma to attack the Pride Lands, or got tricked by a strange Lion. Either outcome backfired and gave him his scar. While his face was injured, his pride and anger only grew as he swore to kill Mufasa! He had changed, naming himself Scar so that the Pride Lands wouldn’t forget what happened and what will happen.

Despite this, all attempts to overthrow Mufasa didn’t work, often resulting in his humiliation. To make matters worse, the one chance he had at being king was gone when Mufasa’s child was born. Simba as he was named irked Scar even further, now he’ll never be king. He’ll be a loser forever. That’s what he thought until he was convinced by some vultures (and a strange vision) that he should overthrow Mufasa! So he proved his loyalty to the Lions enemy, the Hyenas, he gave them food and killed their abusive leader, earning their trust and allowing him to lead them to a brighter future.

Scar was ready! He came up with an awfully brilliant plan, a plan to die for even! He used his silver tongue and tricked Simba into the gorge before causing a Wildebeest stampede to kill Simba. Naturally, Mufasa saved Simba but this resulted in him dangling off a cliff, begging for his brother to help him. Scar had the chance to make amends and help his brother, but why would he? He threw Mufasa off the cliff and KILLED HIM! After the stampede was over, Simba could only see his Fathers corpse, believing it was his fault. Scar banished Simba and sent his Hyenas to kill him, while they did fail the damage was already done, Simba would never return.

Scar, after many years of yearning, finally became King! With this, he forcefully made the Lions make an alliance with the Hyenas, disrupting the Circle of Life. Scar spent his whole life trying to be king that he never knew what being king required: discipline, patience, and kindness.  Because of this, he overhunted to the point of warding off the rest of the animals from the Pride Lands, creating death, misery, and starvation. His act of evil was so great that he became one of the Villains Entitled to Respect (Deja Vu)!

The lionesses protested and refused to hunt anymore, wanting to leave the Pride Lands. Scar refused and prepared to use force to have them starve to death. However, a ghost from the past appeared as Simba returned. After going through multiple years of trauma and torment, Simba finally confronted his fears and came to the Pride Lands to face his Uncle. Scar ran and betrayed the Hyenas to save his skin, creating an epic battle between the Hyenas and the Lions. Eventually, Simba cornered Scar and banished him to the Outlands where he would live the rest of his life because unlike Scar, Simba cared about life and wanted to preserve it. Unfortunately, Scar refused and engaged in battle with Simba, despite the close fight Scar ultimately lost and met his end to the Hyenas, the only people that cared for him but were ultimately betrayed by Scar. A fitting end.

Or is it? While Scar did die he would get a second chance at ruining his nephew’s life as he would return as a Volcano spirit after a mixture of a Simba’s son, Kion, using his Roar of the Elders and a Bakora staff. Scar decided to rule the Pride Lands after burning it down into ashes, a perfect revenge plot! He uses his silver tongue and manipulation skills to build up alliances with outcasts to create an army to battle Simba’s kingdom. Luckily for Simba, his son Kion was the leader of the Lion Guard who managed to foil all of Scar’s plans. Realizing that Kion was the main foil to his plans, Scar tried to sway Kion to the dark side, giving him a scar that sways him to the path of evil. Despite this, Kion forgave Scar and created a storm to extinguish Scar’s spirit. Scar’s spirit ended up landing in the Isle of the Lost (familiar isn’t it) where he would remain there for the rest of eternity.

However, while Scar may be gone for good, his actions have affected multiple individuals forever, particularly Simba, Kion, and a lion named Kovu. Simba still suffered from PTSD, becoming an overprotective parent and constantly seeing hallucinations and visions of Scar tormenting him and his family. Kion also suffered from serious PTSD and because of his scar, he lashed out against his friends and worried that he would become evil like his uncle. Kovu was a baby when Scar reigned, decided upon to become ruler when Scar eventually dies. Scar’s right hand woman Zira groomed him into a cold blooded killer and used him and his growing romance with Simba’s daughter Kiara to hurt Simba. Despite this, all 3 lions managed to persevere and become better people. Kovu and Kiara discovered that their clans weren’t too different and became one. Simba eventually saw reason and put his demons away to become a better father and leader, accepting Scar’s clan into his kingdom. Kion managed to heal from his effects, learned to control his Roar, and ultimately found love and strengthened his friendship with the Lion Guard. It was then when Scar had truly lost, now just a bad memory.

ABILITIES

SHERE KHAN

TIGER PHYSIOLOGY

Considering Shere Khan is a Tiger, he should have all the traits an average Tiger would have. Tigers have enhanced senses, having excellent night vision that exceeds ours by 6 times and can smell prey and territorial marks from half a mile away. Tigers can use camouflage and are easily the best swimmers of the cat family. Tigers claws and fangs can retract which helps with climbing, and their bites get up to over 1500 PSI! Finally, Tigers have additional abilities that help with catching prey such as roaring loud enough to paralyze and mimic sounds of their prey to lure them in.

ROAR ATTACK

Shere Khan can roar like any Tiger of course, but Shere Khan’s roar can outright harm people and function like a projectile attack.

FIRE MANIPULATION

What the? Why can Shere Khan throw out fireballs? Isn’t he deathly afraid of these? Eh it’s probably a one off, it’s not like he has it more than on-

AGAIN! THIS TIME HE’S JUST BREATHING FIRE, WAY MORE POTENT THAN FIREBALLS! Granted this is in Quackshot, a non Jungle Book game with questionable canonicity since Donald Duck is the main character and Shere Khan clearly put a few pounds on, but the fact that Shere Khan can use fire is mind boggling. That would be like if Iceman was afraid of snow or Pikachu was scared of the thunder.

REGENERATION (LOW)

While Shere Khan hasn’t shown this ability, Baloo and Bagheera were able to heal their black eyes and swollen injuries in a single night, Shere Khan should be capable of doing the same as well.

STANDING ON HIS HIND LEGS

Ok just because he briefly stood on his hind legs doesn’t mean Talespin is now valid, shut up.

DISNEY HEROES: BATTLE MODE SKILLS

Ruthless Swipe

Shere Khan swipes at the closest enemy. Enemies also gain stacks of Corruption (which reduces an enemy's healable health by 20%) and are Cursed (reduces healing effect by 50%) for a few seconds.

Nightmare Roar

Shere Khan becomes invisible for a duration. When this happens all enemies are more likely to take critical damage per second for a duration.

When Shere Khan becomes visible again he distracts the nearest enemies for a few seconds.

Hunter’s Prowl

Shere Khan begins to prowl, Cleansing and granting himself stacks of Hardy (blocks one debuff for every stack). For the following seconds, Shere Khan’s Basic Attacks deal bonus damage and apply stacks of Corruption, and Curse for a duration.

Any time Shere Khan uses a stack of Hardy, he and his Allies Heal for a percentage of their Max HP.

Cruel Resilience

When Shere Khan reaches a percentage of his Max HP, he Cleanses himself, heals some HP, and goes Invisible for a few seconds. Shere Khan can do this once every few seconds after a Cooldown.

Shere Khan can cast “Cruel Resilience” even if he is Stunned, Silenced, or Frozen.

Claws of Destruction

Anytime Shere Khan goes Invisible he applies stacks of Corruption to all enemies. Shere Khan deals Bonus Damage to Corrupted enemies, and takes Reduced Damage from Corrupted enemies. While Invisible from any source, Shere Khan gains Movement and Attack Speed and Heals for a percentage of his Max HP per second. Shere Khan’s Basic Attacks also deal bonus Fantastic Damage and grants Extra Energy. Enemies are considered to be Corrupted if they have at least one stack of Corruption.

DISNEY SORCERER’S ARENA ABILITIES

Just One Swipe

Shere Khan swipes his claws at the enemy. After this he can’t be targeted by enemies if other characters are available.

Law of the Jungle

Shere Khan rapidly swipes his claws up to 6 times and gives off Continuous Damage for 2 turns, which basically is just poison.

Element of Surprise

Shere Khan travels through a patch of grass and sneak attacks the enemy. It has a 10% chance for a critical hit and can boost his own speed by 50%.

Fierce Predator

Increases his strength by 20% and increases his speed by 30% after a critical hit.

LORCANA ABILITIES

So Shere Khan has several cards in Lorcana, unfortunately they all are based around Lore, an element that isn’t usable here. Yeah he doesn’t get anything from Lorcana.

GROOVING AND SINGING

Since Shere Khan is a Disney character, it’s natural that he has an excellent singing voice. He also can boogie down, look at his twirl!

SCAR

LION PHYSIOLOGY

Considering Scar is a Lion, he should have all the traits an average Lion should have. Lions have enhanced senses, having excellent night vision that exceeds ours by 6-8 times and can smell prey and territorial marks from 8 Kilometers (or 5 Miles) away. Lions are also masters of camouflage and are surprisingly good swimmers. Lion’s claws are retractable and their bites can get up to 1,000 PSI! Finally, the Lions Mane is used for additional camouflage and defense against neck attacks.

ROAR

Not to be confused with The Roar of Elders (See Before Verdict), Scar’s regular roar is actually able to paralyze animals in place, likely to freeze them to safely go for the kill!

BROADWAY FORCE

Several characters in Lion King have an ability called Broadway Force, an ability where Scar starts singing and everyone around him becomes compelled to join in as they start doing exaggerated actions towards the situation. While not too useful as the enemy still has full control, it is a fun ability to mention.

REGENERATION (LOW)

Shenzi got her check scratched but by the next scene it was fully healed. Scar should share this illogical ability.

DISNEY HEROES: BATTLE MODE SKILLS

Long Live the King

Scar roars, damaging enemies and removes the ability to use skills for a brief moment.

A Matter of Pride

Scar snaps at the closest enemy, dealing damage. This does more damage the more HP the enemy is missing.

Be Prepared

Scar begins combat prowling, becoming invisible for the first seconds of combat and receiving less damage from all sources while prowling. While prowling, Scar is untargetable.

The Lion’s Share

Scar gains damage dealt back as healing.

No Image Available Lol

On the Prowl

When Scar deals a percent or more of an enemy’s Max HP as damage, they are stunned.

While Scar is prowling, he deals more damage to silenced enemies.

DISNEY SORCERER’S ARENA ABILITIES

Vicious Slash

Scar slashes at the enemy so intensely that it causes Continuous Damage for up to 2 turns (3 turns with stealth on). Continuous Damage, again, is just basically a poison effect.

Cinder Swipe

Just like in the movie, Scar can swipe cinder at his foes, although this time it isn’t an environmental exclusive ability. This will lower the enemies accuracy for 2 turns by 50% (since he is throwing cinder at people's eyes) and has a 75% chance of reducing the opponent's durability by 50%.

Be prepared

Yeah another ability called Be Prepared. The song was so good that it became a part of Scar’s identity.

Anyways, Scar can summon up to 2 hyenas to aid him, they can turn damage dealt to their opponents to heal themselves and will forcefully have the opponents fight them instead of Scar for 2 turns.

Long Live the King

Ok, are these games just copying each other's homework in terms of names?

This doesn’t do much besides a 30% chance of a critical hit on an opponent if they were hit with a Cinder Swipe. Not too useful, especially since it requires a teammate to use a basic attack first.

KINGDOM HEARTS ABILITIES

Combo Attack

Scar stands his ground, spins, and attacks with his claws (Yeah he just turns into a beyblade for a brief second lmao).

Wrestle

Scar grapples his foe and unleashes his claws at them.

Sweep Away

Scar scratches while turning sideways.

Fire Change

Scar’s body becomes surrounded by fire.

Thunder Change

Scar’s body becomes surrounded by electricity.

Flame Attack

Scar puts up a field of fire around himself (Used after Fire Change).

Thunder Attack

Scar summons lightning near himself (Used after Thunder Change).

Wild Rage

Scar charges at his prey at high speeds while being surrounded by an aura of rage.

NON-PHYSICAL INTERACTION

Simba in Kingdom Hearts was able to touch Scar’s ghosts and the Heartless, Scar should be capable of doing the exact same.

LORCANA ABILITIES

Are there any useful abilities Scar gets here… no. Yeah Lorcana doesn't give either of them anything. Well, at least for base…

VISIONS?

So this is something that isn’t entirely combat applicable but it is something I thought should be mentioned as it is very weird. So after Scar got himself laid out by a Wildebeest he was knocked out and went into a strange dream-like realm. This realm showed a vision of Mufasa defeating Scar as he refuses to give Scar the throne. This results in Scar going on an adventure to become the ruler of Hyenas. Now this isn’t likely going to be a thing Scar can do as he does need to be unconscious to do this but it is interesting.

WEAPONS/ITEMS

SHERE KHAN

CLAWS & TEETH

Like any Tiger, Shere Khan has sharp claws and teeth to hunt his prey. He’s actually pretty precise with his claws, being able to cut cakes with expert precision and should be comparable to Bagheera who can use his claws to climb. Shere Khan’s teeth on the other hand has been used for grappling purposes as he threw Akela off a cliff in the Live Action adaptation.

COCONUT

CocoWHAT? Shere Khan could probably bash Scar’s head in with this Coconut.

VINES

Several characters in The Jungle Book have used vines for various purposes such as a grappling hook, nets, traps, jump ropes, and trampolines. Shere Khan should be capable of accomplishing such feats.

BELL

Shere Khan used this bell to call for King Louie after being tricked into thinking Shere Khan was injured, not useful at all but it’s a freaking Tiger, why would he have a varied arsenal?

SCAR

CLAWS & TEETH

Fun Fact: Scar’s teeth and claws are always shown to represent how evil he is! Anyway, Scar’s claws are sharper than Mufasa’s who can dig in stone. Several other lions in the Lion King have used their claws and teeth to climb trees.

SUPPORT

SHERE KHAN

SCAR

SHENZI, BANZAI, & ED

Aside from Scar’s summoned Hyena’s, he has these 3 to help. Scar saved them from execution when they first met, so they are pretty loyal to him (until he ratted them out). Regardless, what they lack in strength, they make up for it with survivability as they have beaten the odds of death several times which were able to impress Scar. As for specifics…

Shenzi: The leader of the trio, she is the smartest and often comes up with strategies to hunt prey, she is also likely the strongest of the 3 as she fought Nala for a short minute.

Banzai: He is the muscle of the trio and is usually the first one ready to fight, however he is also the most likely to backtalk, but with Scar’s presence he would listen.

Ed: While he is the stupidest and the most cowardly, he is the most crazy and has the most unpredictable fighting pattern which could be useful against Shere Khan.

FORMS

SHERE KHAN

LIVE ACTION REMAKE

Here’s Shere Khan with his soul and personality removed, even if he is voiced by the goated Idris Elba.

SCAR

FIERY USURPER

What the hell is this thing, and why does it look SO COOL!? If a Disney character has a look that is unlike the standard, they are likely mixed with Floodborn Glimmers! Floodborn Glimmers is a chaotic mixed ink that transforms characters into different states of beings. Unfortunately it isn’t confirmed if these forms give a significant strength increase to the point of scaling higher than they already have. We also don’t know how potent these flames are or if they are even flames and if he has any other abilities or feats. Finally there is no evidence that Scar in this form should scale to the other Floodborn Glimmer forms such as Ursula. But it still does look awesome as hell.

HEARTLESS

In Kingdom Hearts, Simba managed to defeat Scar but because of the anger and jealousy in his heart, he became a heartless. While his appearance doesn’t change, he gets all of his Kingdom Hearts abilities. Or maybe he doesn’t since Simba has similar weird abilities, whatever. Scar does have the unique attribute of high intelligence, very weird since most Heartless lose their intelligence and operate on instinct.

GHOST OF SCAR

Guess what, Scar has a ANOTHER way to come back after defeat! After the events of the Lion King, Scar’s hatred in his heart allowed his spirit to live and haunt the Pride Lands. It does have the weakness of not being able to attack and being really easy to beat, literally one hit. However, after Simba confronted his fears, a bunch of ghosts of Scar’s all came together and created…

GROUNDSHAKER

THIS THING??? BRO TURNED INTO A KAIJU!? It doesn’t do much that Scar doesn’t already do besides the massive size advantage and a 1.5 times strength increase, Scar does lose his intelligence in this form and can’t likely use any of his non Kingdom Hearts abilities. It is debatable to give Scar as the time it took Scar to become a ghost would likely be long enough to give Shere Khan the win if he killed Scar twice, it will be mentioned as an alternate scenario though.

LIVE ACTION REMAKE

Here’s Scar with his soul and personality removed, even if he is voiced by the goated Chiwetel Ejiofor.

MENTALITY

SHERE KHAN

IQ: Above Average - Tigers already are considered some of the smartest predators as they have exceptional memory and complex problem solving skills but Shere Khan’s intelligence exceeds a regular Tigers. Shere Khan is an expert manipulator as he uses his reputation to strike fear in the animals he needs to get information out of. His greatest intelligence feat was killing Akela as he knew that news would travel fast and Mowgli would return to the jungle, if he brought fire he would be feared and hated across the jungle and if he didn't bring it he would be an easy kill.

BIQ: Varies between Average to Above Average - Tigers are natural experts on hunting so Shere Khan shouldn’t be any different, he does tend to let his anger cloud his judgement though.

SKILL/TRAINING: While Shere Khan doesn’t know any real martial arts he is a master at hunting and stealth making him one of the most dangerous predators in the jungle.

EXP: Shere Khan has been hunting on his own ever since he was a cub, already establishing himself as the top dog of the jungle. Shere Khan is often depicted as an old and experienced hunter in all media so the Disney versions should stick to this as well.

COMBAT/STANDARD TACTICS: Shere Khan fights like most Tigers, using their teeth and claws to grapple his opponents and aims for the neck for quick and decisive blows. Shere Khan is arrogant however and often lets his opponent get a head start and resorts to anger in dire situations, however he is quite defensive when careful and is a better fighter than top hunters such as Bagheera and Akeela and consistently outmatches Baloo who knows how to Box.

SCAR

IQ: Gifted, likely higher - Scar is most known for his intelligence as he is an expert schemer. Obviously we all know his expert manipulation skills and he set up Mufasa’s death. However, his intelligence carries over in the Lion Guard as the only reason he was as much of a threat as he was is because of his planning skills. He managed to recruit multiple animals despite their hostility towards each other and constantly made back up plans. Probably Scar’s greatest feat is his emotional manipulation as even after his death, his words and plans have affected several others such as Simba, Kion, and Kovu.

BIQ: Varies between Average to Above Average - While Scar does have excellent intelligence, it doesn’t 100% carry over in the heat of battle as he isn’t great at thinking complex strategies on the spot. Scar is an excellent planner however and when given the time he can think of hunting strategies by utilizing his stealth skills. Besides, Scar isn’t completely useless on the spot as he used the environment against his foes in the past.

SKILL/TRAINING: In the Lion King, the Lions are all taught the art of hunting and Scar is considered a pretty good hunter, he was good enough that he taught Simba and Nala some techniques in the Lion King Games and Twisted Tale respectively.

EXP: Scar has been hunting since he was a young cub and has been in several fights, he was leader of the Lion Guard meaning for a while he did nothing but constantly fight intruders for the safety of others.

COMBAT/STANDARD TACTICS: Scar prefers to use stealth to get a clean first and perhaps even a lethal blow. Without it he tends to struggle in straight hands as he isn’t the greatest fighter in the world but he is far from a novice. He tends to use his nimble nature, sharp claws, and the environment to his advantage.

RESISTANCES

SHERE KHAN

Heat Resistance: Despite being afraid of fire, Shere Khan is shockingly resilient against fire. It takes a high amount of hits to take him down in the video games.

Mind Manipulation Resistance: Kaa’s hypnosis doesn’t work on him, you might question this resistance since the hypnosis requires eye contact but there are moments where Shere Khan looks at Kaa and it doesn't work for a second.

SCAR

Paralysis Resistance: Is unaffected by Simba’s roar despite it paralyzing others in games.

Limited Heat Resistance: Several characters can survive being near fiery areas.

SCALING

SHERE KHAN

MOWGLI

Probably one of the easiest scaling we have. In all the movies Mowgli is unable to defeat with brute force and in the video games he gets oneshotted by Shere Khan. Mowgli needs to use the Red Flower in order to have a chance to beat Shere Khan and in the video games he needs dozens upon dozens of torches to just ward off Shere Khan so he 100% is weaker than Shere Khan.

BALOO & BAGHEERA

Mowgli’s two gay da- I MEAN his two guardians, yep totally. Anyways, Shere Khan consistently has defeated these two and has even oneshotted them in some versions.

Baloo

Bagheera

KING LOUIE

This one might seem weird considering how much bigger in scale he is to Shere Khan, in a literal sense in the Live Action adaptation, but Shere Khan should upscale. King Louie is afraid of Shere Khan and in all versions he kidnaps Mowgli so he can learn how to create the Red Flower so that way he can rule the Jungle, specifically to overthrow Shere Khan. Also in Jungle Book Groove Party, King Louie runs away at the sight of Shere Khan making scaling consistent. If you're somehow not convinced, King Louie was outmatched by Baloo who is Shere Khan’s physical inferior and Shere Khan was able to overpower the entire cast of Jungle Cubs which included King Louie. No matter what way you look at it, Shere Khan scales.

OTHER ANIMALS

All the reasons to scale Shere Khan to King Louie apply to the rest of the Jungle Book cast as well.

Kaa

Hathi

Vultures

Deer

SCAR

SIMBA

Here is the rightful heir to the throne, Simba! Scar was able to fight pretty well against Simba and almost won if it wasn’t for Nala’s technique used by Simba. Now in the Lion King 2, Simba is much stronger and is comparable to Mufasa, but not only are the best feats Simba performs not from this film but there may be justification for scaling as seen in the Mufasa segment.

MUFASA

Initially, it may be hard to believe that Scar should be able to scale to his brother, he even admitted that he had no chance against Mufasa in a direct fight multiple times. However, Scar was able to harm Kiros and helped Mufasa defeat him, Kiros was able to give Mufasa some serious trouble so Scar shouldn’t be too much out of Mufasa’s league.

OTHER LIONS

Considering that most lions weren’t able to overthrow Scar it’s safe to say that Scar should be able to scale to them, especially since he could scale to Simba and Mufasa.

Nala

Kiara

Zira

Kovu

Sarafina

Strange Lion

OTHER ANIMALS

During his reign, none of the pride landers were able to overthrow Scar. Also, Zazu can take abuse from everyone in this list and Scar oneshotted him, meaning that Scar should somewhat scale bare minimum.

Timon & Pumbaa

Rafiki

No, Rafiki didn’t create an earthquake, he just noticed it about to happen guys.

Zazu

Hyena’s

Swifty

Shuja

Crocodiles

Elephants

Rhinos

THE LION GUARD

Yes, this is canon. While at first you might doubt that Scar can scale, there are two reasons that he should. 1: Several other animals have traded blows with the Lion Guard and survived casual Roars from Kion, including Zira who Scar upscales from. 2: Scar was a Lion Guard member at one point meaning he was considered strong enough to be on this tier.

Yeah most of these feats here have been repeated by them multiple times so I’ll just save you the trouble.

WEAKNESSES

SHERE KHAN

Aside from getting skinned alive as seen above, Shere Khan is very prideful and arrogant and often makes rash decisions based around anger which often leads himself into entering dangerous situations such as dangling above lava and fire. He also is afraid of the Red Flower and Guns. See Before Verdict

SCAR

While Scar may be very intelligent, he would put it, “Well, as far as brains go, I got the lion's share. But when it comes to brute strength, I'm afraid I'm at the shallow end of the gene pool." He’s also very arrogant, has a short temper, cowardly, and is a horrible team player, he’s willing to betray others which led to his untimely demise.

BEFORE WE END THINGS!

SHERE KHAN

F-F-FA-FIRE!?!?

So what’s probably the most famous attribute about Shere Khan is that he’s afraid of the Red Flower, aka fire. So if he’s facing an opponent with fire, is he just cooked? In order to figure it out we need to look at why Shere Khan is afraid of fire and how he reacts to fire.

Firstly, why is he so scared of fire? While the reason in the animated version is unknown, it just seems to be a natural fear of everyone, the Live Action version has a canon reason. Shere Khan hunted down Mowgli’s father and Mowgli’s father was armed with one thing and one thing only, fire. While Shere Khan managed to kill the father, but not before experiencing what the Red Flower’s touch feels like. The fire burned his eye, scaring and blinding it. That is the reason Shere Khan fears fire, but how does he react to it?

Jungle Book: Okay probably not the best example as this is easily Shere Khan’s worst outing against fire. As soon as the branch filled with fire was tied to his tail he ran away like a little kid.

Jungle Book 2: So Shere Khan is actually a lot braver than his former outing, likely since he’s motivated to take revenge for his humiliation. When he fights the villagers who have fire, he doesn’t immediately run, in fact he actually shows great defensive skills and doesn’t get hurt at all and manages to find an escape route.

Jungle Book LA: Since Shere Khan has an actual reason for his fear of fire here this is probably one of the more important showings of his battles against the Red Flower. Shere Khan willingly chases after Mowgli in a burning forest and jumps into fire filled places to try and kill Mowgli, this shows that he is more than willing to jump into a fiery place if angry enough.

Jungle Book Games: Finally Shere Khan faces and is armed with fire Mowgli and doesn’t run away until beaten to a pulp.

So surprisingly, when faced with fire he isn’t useless and more often than not keeps on fighting, he may be weak to fire but for the most part he just tries to avoid it and keep on fighting. While his most iconic appearance may have him be comically afraid of fire, he should be looked at his best and at his best he can fight regardless of the usage of fire.

MOUNTAIN BUSTER?

So Bagheera stated that the Elephants created many things in the Jungle, including the mountains, so is he mountain level? No. There are a couple problems with Shere Khan being at this tier of power.

To start out we have little context on how the Elephants made the mountains, it was just mentioned in a lighting round of things that the Elephants made. We don’t know how long it took for the Elephants to make the mountains, we can’t just say they instantly hit the ground so hard they created mountains. Actually, the context of how the Elephants made some of the parts of the Jungle actually help disprove the Elephants being that strong. For example, the Elephants did create the rivers but it was a long process as they used their tusks to create furrows for water to flow through.

Also the Jungle Book being that high in scale is super outlandish in comparison to all the other feats in the series, even with spin offs included.

So yeah, the Elephants creating the mountains requires context that isn’t completely given and is more of a metaphor for how the Elephants helped the Jungle become what it is currently. Even if you buy it, the tier of power is so far removed from the rest of the series that it would have to be an outlier.

MHS+?

So you probably saw that Shere Khan had a speed feat that puts him at over Mach 600. Is this a viable feat? Sadly it probably isn’t. Ignoring how the calc was very generous, it isn’t likely a speed feat in the first place as Shere Khan never reacted to the lighting bolt, he was already moving before the lighting bolt hit and he only reacted to it after it struck. So unfortunately it won’t be counted for this battle.

SCAR

WHERE’S THE FIRE SPIRIT?

As you saw in Scar’s background (or just skipped to the stats or the conclusion), Scar had a Fire Spirit, why wasn’t this mentioned in forms? Quite simply, he couldn’t use it in a standard setting. It’s not like once Scar dies he can instantly become this and blow Shere Khan away, he became this because of preparation by using Makini’s Bakora Staff and The Roar of the Elders to summon his spirit in a volcano. Even if we gave it to him it’s pretty hard to use in a fight, he requires fire to exist around.

While this is really cool, giving it to him is illogical and ignores the intention of his character, even if he is pretty strong.

THE ROAR!?

So something of note is that Scar in the Lion Guard had The Roar of the Elders, why isn’t he being given that? It’s not like it’s as circumstantial as the fire spirit, Scar was born with The Roar of the Elders in the Lion Guard. Well there is one tiny itty bitty detail that would make it hard to give him it.

He’s an asshole.

Ok you’d probably want a better example, wouldn’t you. Scar USED to have The Roar of the Elders, but he lost it when he killed his own Lion Guard. The Roar of the Elders won’t stick with a Lion with malicious intent. So if Scar attempted to use it, he’d lose it anyways. You could give it to him before he gained malicious desires, but at that point the matchup wouldn’t make sense and it really wouldn’t be Shere Khan vs Scar, it would be Shere Khan vs Taka.

That should finally be it on Lion Gu-

ROAR SCALING?

OH COME ON! I THOUGHT I WAS DONE! I ALREADY SAID SCAR SHOULDN’T GET THE ROAR OF THE ELDERS! WHAT MORE CAN I SA-

Oh…

Ok we can talk about this.

There is an argument that while Scar shouldn’t get The Roar of the Elders, he could still scale to it since several characters have tanked it. There is logic behind this but ultimately there are too many holes for this to be 100% valid.

The main problem that collapses that argument was Scar’s removal of The Roar of the Elders! When he intended to kill the previous Lion Guard, it killed them! Kion has never used The Roar of the Elders to kill and hasn’t taken a single life, there are entire episodes dedicated to showing the consequences of using The Roar of the Elders for selfish intent such as causing unnecessary destruction and threatening the lives of others, along with the potential risk of losing The Roar of the Elders. Not to mention, aside from one outlier, none of the animals that Kion has used The Roar of the Elders on didn’t endure massive environmental destruction, they generally get the equivalent of a massive force push. Finally, The Roar of the Elders is so high in scale compared to the rest of the series that it would seem outlandish that everyone could scale to Large Star capabilities, which the argument of scaling would imply since even bottom tiers have tanked a casual Roar.

That being said, how impressive are the casual Roars? While we can’t give scaling to Kion’s MASSIVE Roars, we can use what’s used from causal Roars from Kion. The most impressive feat The Roar of the Elders has done to a specific person was both Zira and Janja, where they got sent to the Outlands. The exact distance is unknown but for safety let’s create a high end and a low end, traveling half the distance of the Pride Lands, and traveling the full distance of the Pride Lands.

Now the exact size of the Pride Lands are unknown, but there is a possible calculation that could be made. Mufasa stated that everything that the light touches belongs to them, which means that everything that Simba could see on top of Pride Rock was the Pride Lands. The farthest humans could see from a tall mountain like that would be 360 km or 360,000 m. Divide that by 2 for the low end and that’s 180 km.

Zira’s (All of Janja’s calcs were weaker so let’s calc Zira for a more impressive calc) launch lasted 9 seconds.

Lower End: (180000/9) = 20000 m/s.

Higher End: (360000/9) = 40000 m/s

A female Lion on average (Janja is lighter so let’s calc Zira for a more impressive calc) weighs at most 400 pounds or 181.44 kg.

Lower End: (0.5*181.44*(20000^2) = 8.67 Tons of TNT!

Higher End: (0.5*181.44*(40000^2)) = 34.7 Tons of TNT!

Ok, NOW we’re done with Lion Guard scaling, no jokes this time.

BROADWAY FORCE FEATS?

So an argument against most Lion King feats that happen within a song and a lot of Disney song feats don’t actually happen. So let’s go through all of them and determine what’s real and what belongs in a coma theory.

Scar causing a giant rock to arise: This feat will be addressed again later but for now, did it happen? We can see that Scar’s Broadway Force didn’t affect the area aside from changing the lights from Green into Yellow and Red. As for the giant rock, once the song is over the rock is still there and in future Lion King media it exists in the Outlands meaning it did happen.

Rafiki opening up a mountain: This one unfortunately didn’t happen as there is no proof that the entire sequence was real since the scene afterwards is Kovu and Kiara humming to themselves at night in the grass where the song’s finale had them flying. Also there would be a weird size inconsistency as Rafiki would be too large and the question of why a mountain instantly sprouted up would have to be addressed.

Zazu stuff: This is the easiest one since there are multiple pieces of evidence that this actually happened. Firstly, the aftermath of the song had Zazu crushed by a Rhino and animals scattering, this is a minor plotpoint as this is how Zazu loses the two cubs. The other key point is that in Lion King 1 ½ it showed that Timon saw the sequence and stopped it, meaning that it did happen.

TL;DR, the Scar and Zazu Broadway Force feats happened while Rafiki’s didn’t.

BE PREPARED, FOR A MINOR DISCUSSION!

So a feat you wouldn’t have expected from Scar to get so high was causing a rock to rise so high and fast that it equates to 4.1 Tons of TNT! But is this feat really all it's cracked up to be?

So what Scar did in the sequence is jump onto the ground and that creates a crack that eventually causes the rocks to rise up. Seems like a normal feat but that begs the question, did he really cause the rocks to rise up? It seems like a chain reaction, the outlands are unstable in terms of structure and Scar might’ve caused the chain reaction by creating a crack that eventually collapsed the structure. Also, how could Scar cause the rocks to rise? Like that’s a genuine question I have! It seems it was the mini earthquake that was caused by the chain reaction, something Scar probably couldn’t scale to.

Don’t worry Scar bros, there is an argument for Scar to scale to this feat! While it may be unlikely for him to scale to this in strength, he could possibly scale in terms of durability. Scar was able to have the rock rise while on top of it and he wasn’t harmed at all. He also was very casual about the whole situation, implying that if it went south for him it would be no threat.

There are arguments for him to scale to this or not, so I’ll let you decide if it’s legit or not. Doesn’t change the verdict either way!

VERDICT

Let’s go through every category to determine our winner…

ABILITIES

When it comes to real life, Tigers and Lions both have their advantages over each other when it comes to abilities. Tigers roars can paralyze a Lion but the Lion’s mane can protect themselves from neck bites. It’s very hard to see which would be better as aside from this, Tigers and Lions share similar abilities. However, when talking about Shere Khan and Scar’s exclusive abilities, things get more complicated.

Shere Khan and Scar actually share many abilities (Damn you RPG mechanics): Paralyzing Roars, Fire Manipulation, Low Tier Regeneration, Invisibility (Difference is Shere Khan can heal himself while paralyzed and invisible while Scar increases his durability during invisibility), Healing through different means (Shere Khan using Hardy and Scar hitting the opponent), Continuous Damage, and ways to increase chances of Critical Damage!

Shere Khan’s exclusive abilities that Scar does not own are: Using his Roar as a projectile attack, Corruption, Cursing, Hardy, and superior stat increases.

Scar’s exclusive abilities that Shere Khan does not own are: Paralysis resistance meaning only Scar’s Roar Paralysis will be effective, Removing abilities temporally, Summoning Lightning, Deceasing enemies durability, Lowering the enemies accuracy, Able to come back to life once, and Summoning two Hyena’s with them making the enemy prioritize them.

Shere Khan and Scar do manage to counter each other with their own abilities! Shere Khan can add stacks of Hardy to avoid Scar’s skill removal, lower Scar’s healable health with Corruption and Cursing to make sure that he would be able to heal more health in terms of quality, heal himself if Scar paralyzes him while invisible, and can increase his stats faster. Scar on the other hand can paralyze Shere Khan when he’s not invisible, summon Lightning with superior AOE and battlefield control, lower Shere Khan’s accuracy, lower Shere Khan’s durability, and most useful is gaining the numbers advantage and being able to come back to life once.

Shere Khan can counter most of Scar’s abilities and would win the war of stat increases and decreases, along with better range with his projectile attacks. Scar however has the better long game abilities with him hiding behind 5 Hyenas (Shenzi, Banazi, and Ed are included too) and Shere Khan is going to have to kill Scar twice. Whoever has the better abilities is honestly going to come down to who’ll need to rely on them less with their physical stats and their mentality on how they will use it.

They both have abilities that counter each other and will make it difficult for the other, but abilities alone won’t win the war. ABILITIES is a TIE!

WEAPONS/ITEMS

This one won’t be too hard to figure out unlike the last category. Shere Khan has actual tools, Scar doesn’t. While a coconut or bell wouldn’t be too useful, vines could actually help Shere Khan as he can set up traps to tie Scar in place or use them for mobility.

Even only restricting them to their claws and teeth, it should be evidently clear that Shere Khan makes better use for it. Shere Khan uses his teeth for grappling which while it is something that Scar does, he doesn’t toss people like Shere Khan. Shere Khan’s claws are also sharp and precise enough that it is a worthy substitute to knives.

Scar doesn’t have any options to stack up to Shere Khan’s tools, as little of them that he does have. SHERE KHAN takes WEAPONS/ITEMS!

SUPPORT & FORMS

Remember how Scar didn’t really have much for Weapons/Items, because this is going to be the reversal. Yeah, Shere Khan doesn’t have any of either, RIP bozo.

Meanwhile, Scar has 5 Hyenas which while they are weaker, they do have the advantage of numbers and letting Scar avoid damage since they make it a priority to be hit first. Scar also being able to come back as a Heartless is pretty useful as well. If you allow him to use the Groundshaker, then he gains a massive size advantage (at the cost of a loss of strategy and abilities though).

Shere Khan doesn’t have any real friends, L bozo. Although Scar’s support being “friends” might be stretching it but at least it’s something. SCAR takes SUPPORT & FORMS!

MENTALITY

Both of these cats are pretty clever but who comes out on top mentally? The answer is… complicated, because both have significant advantages over each other.

Shere Khan is a far better fighter than Scar! Scar generally struggles in direct fights due to his frail nature and often requires stealth and sneak attacks in order to gain the upper hand. Shere Khan on the other hand was able to defeat Baloo (a bear who knows how to Box), Bagheera (who is a skilled warrior), and Mowgli’s entire Wolf Pack (all who have great hunting experience) all at once! Shere Khan is also older than Scar and has been hunting on his own since he was a cub, unlike Scar who had the Lionesses hunt for him and was taught to act like a Male Lion, do nothing unless the Pride is under attack (not helped that Scar is a little cowardly since he doesn’t typically pick on people in his weight class).

Scar isn’t completely screwed in this category however, he is much smarter than Shere Khan. Both are skilled manipulators but Scar is able to come up with more complex plans and manipulate smarter characters such as Zazu and Mufasa. Scar also tends to make smarter decisions in battle, both do have good hunting knowledge but where Shere Khan can get blinded by anger, Scar can think defensively and use the environment in his favor such as using cinder to blind his foes.

Shere Khan is more skilled and experienced, Scar is smarter and the better strategist, and both have good hunting skills. Safe to say it’s fairly tied. MENTALITY is a TIE!

SPEED

So when talking about real life, Lions take this category as 80 Km/h > 65 Km/h. However, when translating this into the Disney World, Shere Khan shockingly takes this.

Believe this, an attempt to find something that Scar had that could match Shere Khan’s speed was made, but despite the huge amount of content that the mainline Lion King universe has, nothing was too impressive. The most impressive speed feat that Lion King has comes from Swifty running 280 Km/h, and that’s assuming that Simba’s statement is 100% true with no hyperbole. You’d think that the characters traveling to the Pride Lands and going similar distances might yield decent speeds, but with no timeframe it gets hard to quantify the exact speeds. Finally, no one scales to Kion’s Roar in speed as everyone has failed to dodge it and is blitzed by the attack, unable to do anything.

Shere Khan on the other hand can keep up with all of Scar’s feats and scaling by being able to outpace Rhino’s as a cub and consistently has shown superiority to Deer and moving fast enough to create dustclouds. Most impressively however is Mowgli being able to dodge Shere Khan’s Roar fast enough to reach Mach 10.99! This is pretty consistent as Mowgli is able to recreate this feat in a couple of versions in the Jungle Book platformer! This is so much faster than Scar that anything that Shere Khan would need to win in a fight should happen because of the speed gap (not to mention Shere Khan has multiple ways to further boost his speed lmao).

While he may not look like it, Shere Khan’s speed advantage is massive! SHERE KHAN takes SPEED!

STRENGTH & DURABILITY

This last category is pretty tricky as just looking at the numbers doesn’t entirely decide this.

Tigers are famously stronger than Lions, sometimes to the point that some species of Tigers hunt Lions! When looking at solo feats it seems to carry over. Shere Khan is able to box larger animals, crush coconuts, and survive statues falling on top of him! Unless you buy the rock rising feat, nothing Scar does matches that level of scale.

BUT, when you look at scaling, you’d be surprised to find out that by just looking at the numbers Scar is stronger. The highest calc for Shere Khan comes from Hathi yelling hard enough to create an avalanche which would be worth 7.1 Tons of TNT. The Lion King has 2 feats that approach can surpass that scale, the Strange Lion tanking a meteor worth up to 10 Tons of TNT and Zira’s clan surviving Kion’s casual Roar which can get up to 34.7 Tons of TNT. So just by looking at the numbers it seems like this is an easy win for Scar, however there are two variables that give Shere Khan a fighting chance, effort and potential.

While Scar’s scaling is impressive, it is worth noting that while the characters survive the force, they aren’t in great condition. Hathi and friends on the other hand did it VERY casually, not to mention they did so as children. Along with the stat boosts, Shere Khan could very well match Scar in sheer power. Despite this, the fact that Vitani as a child could survive Kion’s casual Roar does mean that Scar could receive a similar upscale, but it still wasn’t a casual feat since Zira was injured. Also, Scar only significantly scales higher when using the higher ends of the feats, the lower ends are very comparable to Shere Khan.

Clearly this is getting vague, the two ways to look at it are that Shere Khan will have to play catch up with upscaling and stat buffing to match Scar’s strength or Scar’s strength advantage is only slight and will be temporary due to Shere Khan’s stat increases and upscaling. SCAR will take a SLIGHT STRENGTH & DURABILITY advantage but it could be a DRAW based on interpretation.

CONCLUSION

SHERE KHAN

No more games Man Cub!

  • Fire could scare Shere Khan…

  • Lion King is better than Jungle Book…

TIES

  • Both share multiple abilities

  • Arrogant

DISADVANTAGES

  • Shere Khan can keep up and possibly surpass Scar’s strength via stat increases

  • Far Slower

  • Doesn't have as much fighting experience

  • Worse Fighter

  • Hardy would stop Scar’s negative effects

  • Coward

  • …but Corruption and Cursing could make it a non factor

  • …but Shere Khan could still heal himself to stay in the fight

  • …but Shere Khan is still willing to fight

  • …can’t say the same about the remakes though

Wow, this blog took WAY longer than I was expecting, I didn’t know Jungle Book and ESPECIALLY Lion King had as wide of a media spread as it did, there is even some Lost Media so I can’t say this is 100% accurate. Even if these characters' stats don’t scream it, they have so much history that it was fun seeing how strong these guys are. Vs Wiki was trippin when they said these guys are just normal animals.

Back to the debate, unlike the other 3 at the end of the day, where you could guess who would win by looking at all the evidence, it might not be obvious on who’ll win. So let’s go through it in depth and explain the outcome to make it more clear.

When looking purely at stats, it looks like a strength vs speed debate. Scar is almost 5 times stronger while Shere Khan is 48 times faster. While Shere Khan’s number is bigger, a strength gap is superior to a speed gap in most cases right? That could be the case if it weren’t for Shere Khan’s stat increases thanks to his moves such as “Claws of Destruction”, “Element of Surprise”, and “Fierce Predator.” Given on average critical hits do double damage and the 1.2 attack boost, this would make the gap of strength only by 2x! This is already a big advantage for Shere Khan but with the 1.5x and 1.3x speed boosts, Shere Khan would have a speed gap of 94.5x in Shere Khan’s favor! It gets kinda tough to pretend that Scar isn’t getting blitzed here.

Well what about abilities, they both have multiple advantages over each other right? Scar could still paralyze Shere Khan, summon Lightning, and lower Shere Khan’s accuracy right? There are 3 problems with that.

1: The speed gap is so massive that Scar wouldn’t likely be able to pull off these abilities without getting overwhelmed first.

2: Shere Khan’s own abilities would be tough for Scar as well, superior ranged attacks and would win the healing war since he can cancel out Scar’s healing with Corruption and Cursing.

3: There is a skill and experience gap between them. Everytime Scar is in a fight, he tends to struggle because let's face it, Scar is a coward. Scar relies on his planning and manipulation which while great, it isn’t as useful in a random encounter like this. Shere Khan has been hunting his entire life and defeated more impressive foes. Both have equally had impressive abilities, but Shere Khan was the only one who’d use them correctly.

Scar has one trump card though, fire right? As previously explained, Shere Khan’s fear of fire is overblown. Shere Khan on multiple occasions has faced his fears when bloodlusted enough. The only reason he acted like a fool in the first Jungle Book was because he was facing Mowgli, a Man Cub who was far weaker than him, so he acted cocky and when he finally took things seriously, it was too late as he literally had his fear tied up to him. When he took Mowgli seriously, his rage overpowered his fear and he was literally fighting multiple hunters using fire. Considering that Scar as a Lion is naturally in Shere Khan’s weight class, it would make sense that Shere Khan wouldn’t be playing too many games with Scar as he did with Mowgli. Also Scar’s Flame Attack requires charging and a cooldown, both of which Shere Khan can interrupt or attack in the meantime respectively.

Now it’s not like Scar doesn’t have his advantages. His ability to summon Hyenas and forcefully make Shere Khan prioritize them, being able to come back to life once, and his greater intelligence are useful. However, these advantages can only get him so far. Considering that Lions can oneshot most Hyenas and Shere Khan is comparable to them, summoning Hyenas would be a brief stall at best. Scar could come back to life, but given Shere Khan’s massive speed advantage, along with the fact that he has great stamina being able to fight multiple opponents one after the other as seen in the Live Action remake, it wouldn’t be as big of a problem as you’d expect. Finally, Scar is smarter but there isn’t a whole lot he’d be able to do before he gets ripped apart.

Now even after this, there are two hypothetical scenarios you might ask, so let's briefly talk about them even if they are unlikely or have already been removed.

SHERE KHAN VS THE GROUNDSHAKER?

So this isn’t too likely since there is a clear time jump between Scar’s second resurrection but let’s say it did happen, how would Shere Khan fair?

Firstly, there is funnily enough ANOTHER logical leap you’d have to make in order for this scenario to happen LMAO! You see, in order to become the Groundshaker, all of Scar’s ghosts would have to fuse into this thing. Shere Khan can’t really interact with ghosts so Scar would likely just haunt Shere Khan for several days, even then it took time for all of the ghosts to become the Groundshaker.

But for the sake of argument, could Shere Khan defeat the Groundshaker? Yes. While the Groundshaker is mighty, it isn’t perfect as it sacrifices Scar's intelligence and abilities for raw power. This heavily screws Scar over as without those two things, Shere Khan can add on more advantages. At this point, Shere Khan can use all of his status effects that Scar shared against him such as turning invisible to get some sneak attack in, paralyze Scar, constantly heal himself with Scar unable to do the same, and use Continuous Damage to drain Scar’s health. While Scar does get a strength boost, it’s only a 1.5x strength boost which would not make up for losing all of Scar’s other advantages. Even if you argue that’s just a game mechanic, a normal Simba was still capable of damaging him so clearly he isn’t so much stronger that he’d oneshot the Tiger.

So surprisingly, if Scar turned into the Groundshaker, he’d likely do worse than he did as a Lion. But there is still one other scenario that might as well be covered.

SCREW THE CANON!

So something you might be wondering is what if you ignored the reasoning why both Talepin and The Timon & Pumbaa Cartoon aren’t allowed, would the verdict still change. Strangely, despite the cartoony antics of Timon & Pumbaa, the difficulty of the fight would actually get easier for Shere Khan!

First of all, Shere Khan is a massive billionaire with an entire navy and air force within a call. He also could hire Don Karnage’s crew to aid him with their entire wacky arsenal under his thumb. What is Scar supposed to do about that?

Before you mention stats, despite the over the top Looney Tunes inspired feats that Timon & Pumbaa whip out, Shere Khan could likely match and surpass that. Since Talespin is in the same verse of Ducktales (which includes Chip n Dale Rescue Rangers, Darkwing Duck, Mickey Mouse, Roger Rabbit, etc.) he could scale too…

And SO much more lol.

Also, Scar is a jobber in The Timon & Pumbaa series and treated like a joke so it’s questionable if he would scale to anything. So even if you let non canon stuff in, it’d just make Shere Khan’s victory sweeter.

That’s about it, overall while Scar was slightly stronger and was smarter, Shere Khan’s better speed, skill, experience, and better usage of his abilities would make him the winner.

Shere Khan had Scar beat and I’m not LION about that statement. Sorry, I know you are probably TIGERED of hearing bad puns.

Who Would Win? The Lord of the Jungle, Shere Khan!

Here’s the fight script if you haven’t read it yet. Enjoy!

NEXT TIME!

Phew, that took a bit out of me, hope you enjoyed it. Might take a couple days to relax, but until then…
